            Lab Objectives

            The Vision directing lab is designed to allow space for directors and their feature film projects to develop in a supportive but challenging environment and for them to broaden their industry contacts and awareness

            Who Should Attend

            Directors with a feature film project. Application requires submission of a treatment and script of the project, a DVD showing previous work and a statement of intent explaining the directors perspective on the project and what they believe they will gain by participating in the lab. Directors will be required to be able to attend the one-month program in London.

            Lab Overview

            The Vision Directors Lab takes place in London once a year. Vision also runs the directing lab outside of the UK for international clients. The lab runs for four weeks with project based sessions taking place over each weekend and industry meetings taking place one evening per week.

            During the lab participants will:

            • Undertake practical workshops on directing actors. Topics will include efficient casting, structuring rehearsals, giving playable direction, developing characters and using improvisation.
            • Select scenes from their project to workshop with actors. During the Lab the scenes will broken down, shot on digital cameras and edited
            • Meet with experienced directors and collaborators such as screenwriters, cinematographers, editors and producers.

            When the projects are produced Vision requires ‘Developed with the assistance of Vision Pictures’ and the Vision Pictures Logo to appear at end of closing credits.

            Tutors Biography

            The program is supervised by David Pope with components being overseen by a range of Vision facilitators and complemented with visits from industry guests.

            David Pope is an award winning feature film writer director who has worked with filmmakers internationally as a mentor, teacher and consultant.
