Workshop Objective
Participants will gain an understanding of different techniques and processes used by actors and develop essential skills for communicating with actors and drawing out the best performances for the screen.
Who Should Attend
This workshop is designed for directors at all levels of experience.
Workshop Overview
Day one of Directing Actors. Topics will include:
- Casting: Structuring your audition to get the most from the actors and from the process.
- Establishing and developing the relationship: Different actors wants and needs, avoiding result direction and giving playable direction.
- Rehearsal: Different strategies for rehearsal including improvisation,
- Actor’s resources: Outline of different methods used by actors for screen including emotional memory and Meisner technique.
- On Location: Tactics for transferring the achievements of the rehearsal room to the shoot.
Day two of Directing Actors:
A practical workshop with professional actors where a two-page script will be rehearsed, blocked and shot.

David Pope is an award winning feature film writer director who has worked with filmmakers internationally as a mentor, teacher and consultant.
