              Workshop Objectives

              By the end of the course the participant will have the essential principals of packaging and pitching and will have an overview of the packaging and pitching process. They will have learnt what they need to do to package their individual projects effectively. They will have undertaken pitching their projects, and will have been given constructive feedback. They will be able to prepare themselves and their project, so that they can deliver a successful package and pitch and capitalise on priceless opportunities.

              Who Should Attend

              Anyone who is wants to raise finance; attract a producer and/or director, attach cast and professional collaborators to their projects.


              Workshop Overview

              Packaging and Pitching are essential arts that need to be mastered by all filmmakers if they want to get their projects off the ground and stop them from gathering dust in development hell.

              The course will guide the participant through the essential principals of packaging and pitching, how to prepare themselves and their project, so that they can deliver a successful package and pitch and capitalise on priceless opportunities.

              • How to make yourself stand out

              • Why practice makes pitching perfect and how to do it effectively
              • Researching for your project pitch
              • How to secure the opportunity to Pitch
              • Pitch festivals and competition
              • Query e-mails and letters
              • Preparing yourself and the project for the pitch
              • Group pitches – the pros and cons – the pitfalls
              • How to position yourself in the pitch
              • How to pitch to different funders, agents, directors, panels etc
              • What do they each expect?
              • The pitch meeting check list
              • What if the pitch goes wrong? – How to learn from it.

              • How to secure the next meeting
              • Pitching practice – a variety of different exercises.

              This is an interactive course where the participants will practice what they have learnt by doing a variety supervised of pitching exercises – either with projects of their own or ones made up on the spot!

              Following the pitching practice there will be an evaluation and discussion of the different approaches taken. Each student will be given constructive feedback on their pitch.

              Each student will be given a CD-Rom with packaging and pitching handouts, articles on packaging and pitching, a book and website list.
