              Workshop Objectives

              Participants will develop an understanding of what material is best suited to short films, how to structure the story and how to position their screenplay to get made and seen.

              Who Should Attend

              This workshop is designed for those beginning to write for the screen.

              Workshop Overview

              In addition to covering key topics participants will outline a short film project. Following on from the two day seminar participants will write a short film script which will be read by the facilitator and returned with comments.

              Topics will include:

              • How to select and develop suitable ideas for a short film
              • What narrative elements do you need in a short film screenplay (characters, plot, dialogue)
              • What are the roles of the writer/director/producer and how do they interact?
              • What to do with the screenplay when it is completed.

              David Pope is an award winning feature film writer director who has worked with filmmakers internationally as a mentor, teacher and consultant.
